Staff Pick: Ecotourists Save the World

Ecotourists save the world: the environmental volunteer's guide to more than 300 international adventures to conserve, preserve, and rehabilitate wildlife and habitats By Pamela K. Brodowsky and the National Wildlife Federation

Ecotourism can provide opportunities to travel to exotic locations and be involved with rewarding projects, whether as part of an organized package tour or working in exchange for accommodations. Focusing on wildlife conservation, Brodowsky, who previously worked with the National Wildlife Federation on Destination Wildlife, lists many different travel opportunities for all budgets and all types of travelers. The book is arranged geographically, with the majority of opportunities in North America. In addition to a description of the program, Brodowsky also includes its cost, required stay (some are only a week; others at least 30 days or more), and suitability (e.g., ideal for seniors, families, or the casual traveler or recommended only for those in top physical condition).
