Title: In the Garden of Beasts: love, terror, and an American family in Hitler's Berlin
Author: Erik Larson
Review: This "non-fiction novel" is about the life and times of US Ambassador Walter Dodd and his family in Berlin during the early 1930's - the start of Hitler's rise. Although we all know the horrible ending, the
beginning of the book was ironically hopeful- that maybe someone would do something to change the outcome and there were opportunities...I enjoyed Larson's 'Devil in the White City' more, but appreciate his attention to detail and always learning something new in his writings.
Rating: 4 out of 5 stars
