The New York Times bestseller by Pulitzer-Prize winning author Doris Kearns Goodwin is a memoir of growing up on Long Island in the 1950s, and a love of family and baseball—specifically the Brooklyn Dodgers.
It was the world of Campanella, Reese, Snider, Hodges and Jackie Robinson. It was a time when New York had three baseball teams with very clearly defined fan bases. You may pick up a copy of this book at the Circulation Desk.
The Long Island Reads Committee has invited Doris Kearns Goodwin to speak at the Brentwood Public Library on Wednesday, May 6th at 1 PM.
