First Adult Fiction Work for LI Native: Home Repair

Liz Rosenberg, award-winning author of poetry, and children's and young adult books, has published Home Repair, her first novel for adults.

Home Repair is the story of Eve. (No, not that one.) Eve has lost one husband in a car wreck and during a family garage sale, her second husband goes to run an errand... and keeps going. As a result, her life, appearance and family dynamic undergoes major repairs. Her observations
and struggles as a new single mother to her 18-year-old son and 9-year-old daughter, while holding down a full-time job at a Binghamton College, are poignant as well as humorous. Eve's mother Charlotte, whose life also undergoes an overhaul, is a mother right out of the 'Golden Girls'. Eclectic but supportive characters work their way further into Eve's life and add layers to the novel. A couple of surprises and Ms. Rosenberg's wonderful prose make this a Library Journal 'highly recommended for general readers' novel.

A Syosset native, Ms. Rosenberg is a professor at SUNY Binghamton, has served as Chair of the National Book Awards for Young People, as a judge for the Los Angeles Times Book Awards in Poetry, and writes a review column for the Boston Globe.
