In her eighth novel, Meg Wolitzer (author of The Wife and The Position) keenly observes several modern professional women who decide to take a break (or rather a "ten year nap") from their careers in order to stay at home and raise their children. Now, as four older mothers meet for their daily morning coffee at The Golden Horn, they must reevaluate their lives and asess what they will do in the future. Their husbands, their children, and their friendships will all impact on their decisions to choose a new path in life.
Many of our book discussion members had the opportunity to meet Meg Wolitzer in-person, and talk about her books and her writing. The Ten Year Nap should lend itself to an animated talk and discussion of motherhood and careers in or outside the home.
