Adult Summer Reading Club Review: Helen of Troy

Title: Helen of Troy
Author: Margaret George
Review: Margaret George's books tend to bring a historical figure (whether real or mythological) to life with a grounding in the extant contemporary accounts but with a healthy dose of imagination, and Helen of Troy was no exception.  This terrific novel, told from Helen's point-of-view, tells her moving story of her experiences from her childhood to her departure for Troy with Paris to the Trojan War itself.  Interestingly, the author leaves out some of the stories often told about Helen's early life, but the story doesn't suffer for this at all.  Recommended as a paperback or in e-book form as a beach read.
Rating: 4 out of 5
